Playa Blanca, which translates as “white beach” in Spanish, is situated on the south side of Lanzarote and through the years has become a hugely popular all year round holiday destination. Awarded on various occasions for its beauty, this peaceful and pleasant resort is the ideal place for the perfect family holiday.
Lanzarote is truly an all-year round resort. The island escapes any of the real extremes of weather – the winters are like the warmest British summer days and during the summer the island never really suffers from the stifling heat you can find in the Mediterranean countries.
Little under 3,000 hours of sunshine per year is what the island experiences, sunglasses are usually advised! There is often a wind, as the island is in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, but that is often welcome to make sure the temperature doesn’t get too hot. The sea temperature is an average of 22 degrees in summer and 18 degrees in winter.

The distance from Playa Blanca to Lanzarote Arrecife Airport (ACE) is 33 km, which means getting to the accommodation within Playa Blanca is just a short ride from Lanzarote airport, approximately a 45 minutes journey.
The name “Playa Blanca” itself translates to “white beach” in Spanish and this explains the small beach right in the town centre.
Papagayo Beaches are a collection of small coves of soft white sand leading to crystal clear sea water, they are among the best beaches in Europe and well worth the visit.
The resort is home to a wide variety of bars, restaurants, businesses, cafés and more. The Marina Rubicon in Playa Blanca boasts high quality newly-constructed facilities, including a wide choice of superb restaurants and shops, making it a must visit.
The main shopping areas are along the promenade, Calle Limones, Marina Rubicón and the leisure centre Papagayo.
The market at Marina Rubicon is held every Wednesday and Saturday.

Aqualava Playa Blanca Water park is Lanzarote’s newest water park attraction. This is the smaller of the two parks but is open all year round, has the only wave pool on the island and is just perfect for all ages. With plenty of slides, rides, thrills and excitement it is a perfect day out.

The Timanfaya National Park, La Geria wine region, Janubio salt flats, El Golfo (the green lagoon), Los Hervideros and the charming village of Yaiza. You can also visit the village of Femés, where you can enjoy the spectacular panorama outlook of Playa Blanca with Fuerteventura in the distance.
From Playa Blanca you can ferry across to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura which takes around half an hour, docking in at Corralejo, a resort on the North of the island.
Another must visit are the famous Papagayo Beaches, accessed by car or water taxi, where white sand and crystal clear waters make it one of the best beaches in all of Europe. Among the resort’s other beaches, there is also Dorada and Flamingo which are nearby to the main town centre.
